October 17, 1943 ~ April 8, 2025

It is with sadness in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Rita Bernard at the Prince County Hospital on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 of Wellington and formerly of Mont-Carmel at the age of 81 years. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Richard Bernard (May 2010) and cherished daughter of the late Amédée and Marie Louise (née Arsenault) Gallant of Cape-Egmont.

Rita will forever be missed by her loving children: Lisa (Kenneth) McGuigan, David (Trish Reid) Bernard and Ginette Bernard; by her grandchildren: Benjamin (Chad) McGuigan, Adam (Beth) McGuigan, Brittany Reid, Dawson Bernard and Hannah Bernard. She will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters: Eunice (Clarence) Gallant, Vern (Jackie) Gallant, Paul (Aldena) Gallant, Claudette (Bob) McNeill, Marcia (Kevin) Wheeler, Florence Milley, Jeannine (Ken) Roule and Louis (Shirley) Gallant; and by brothers and sister-in-law: Johnny (Gisele) Bernard, Roger (Leona) Bernard, Robert (Yvonne) Bernard and Louise (Roland) Gauthier. She will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Amédée and Marie Louise, her husband Richard and her sister-in-law Florence (George) Czako.

Resting at the Évangéline Funeral Home, 900 Route 124, Urbainville, for visiting hours for family and friends only on Saturday, April 12 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Church in Mont-Carmel. The Mass is open to the general public. Interment will be in the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Parish Cemetery at a later date.

Donations made in Rita’s memory to the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Church or to the Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.
