Obituary of Rita M Daley

January 2, 1956 – June 11, 2025 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rita Daley (nee Arsenault) age 69 of Wellington. Born on January 2nd, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Agno and Laurina Arsenault. The death occurred peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at the O’Leary Community Hospital, with her loving family present, on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025. Left to cherish her memory are her loving children Gabrielle, Giselle (Rick MacAulay), and Monique Poirier along with their father Simon Poirier. She will be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters Simone (Gilles) Labonte, Nazaire “Sam” (Eileen) Arsenault, Marcel (Stella) Arsenault and Elmer Arsenault. Rita will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Emilee, Molly and Jesse Hill, Miles “Mat” Poirier, Ethan and Ivy Wayte, numerous nieces and nephews, and a wonderful circle of friends she considered family. She was predeceased by her parents Agno and Laurina Arsenault, her brothers Leo and Ernest (late Diane), and her sister Rolande (late Simon) Arsenault. Rita left PEI in 1974 for Nova Scotia where she raised her three daughters in Westville and pursued an education and career as an Early Childhood Educator. She was a member of many committees and groups including the CWL, the Westville Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, Westville Brownies and the Victoria School Home and School Association. She was an avid crafter and animal lover. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 17 Wellington, PEI Resting at Evangeline Funeral Home, 900 Rte 124 Urbainville, for visiting hours on Wednesday June 18th from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Liturgy of the Word at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery, Highway #2, Richmond. Donations in Rita’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice. Rita's family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Prince County Hospital, and the Palliative Care Unit at the O’Leary Community Hospital for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Rita during her brief battle with cancer.
