"Antoine" Joseph Richard Obituary

May 27, 1930 ~ November 25, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad and pépé, Antoine Richard, on Tuesday, November 25th at the Summerset Manor in Summerside, PE, surrounded by his loving family. He was 95 years old.

Antoine was the beloved husband of the late Denise Gallant for 60 years. He will be deeply missed by his children Louis (Diane), Normand (predeceased), Clarence (Louise), Marcella (Urbain Poirier), Alice (Allan Cummiskey) and Velma (Dennis Durant). He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Yolande (Brett), Réjean, Mélanie (Dawson), Stéphanie (Troy), Patrick (Shania), Katie-Lynn (Jordan), Marc, Gabrielle (predeceased) and Nico (Jaymen) as well as his great-grandchildren Ryan, Maelle, Finley, Easton, Mac, Lainey, Alexandre and Gracie.

Born in Mont-Carmel, PE on May 27th, 1930, son of the late Jean and Marieanne (Cormier) Richard, Antoine was the youngest of eight children and the last surviving member of his family.

A man deeply devoted to his family and his community. Respected among Acadians, francophones and anglophones, he dedicated his life to serving, uniting and supporting those he loved. His caring presence and strong sense of duty will leave a lasting impact. His respect and kindness extended to everyone he met, values he lived by and instilled in his family.

Above all, Antoine’s greatest joy was his family. He loved gathering with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for good food, storytelling, and laughter. His words of wisdom will continue to guide us all.

Antoine was predeceased by his wife Denise, his son Normand, his granddaughter Gabrielle Durant and his siblings Marguerite, Gus, Frank, Albert, Edna, Marie and Louise.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Summerset Manor and la Coopérative Le Chez-Nous Ltée for their wonderful care and compassion.

Resting at the Evangeline Funeral Home with visiting hours from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th. The funeral will be held at Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Church on Monday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince County Hospital Foundation, the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Church, Le Chez-Nous ltée or the Summerset Manor Recreation Fund.
