Obituary of Abel Arsenault

October 28, 1935 ~ January 7, 2026 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Abel Arsenault, on January 7, 2026, at the age of 90 years. He was a well-liked resident of Le Chez-Nous Community Care Facility in Wellington. Born in St Gilbert, PEI, Abel was the beloved son of the late Fidèle Arsenault and the late Kate (Catherine Maddix) of St Gilbert. Abel is survived by his loving daughters: Jodi (Rick) of Roseville and Jackie of Shediac River; brother and sisters: Corinne, Rose and Ernest (Judy); grandchildren: Kassidy, Courtney, Michelle (Mike), Chris (Kaitlin), Daniel, Amanda (Jeremy), Sammy-Jo and Taylor (Brody); great grandchildren: Nixxon, Lily, Alexa, Wyatt, Charlie, Isla, Evie and Solveij. Abel will also be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Pat and Hugette. He is survived by the mother of his children, Jeanne (née MacArthur) Arsenault of Richmond and caring niece Bertha Ellis of Summerside. Predeceased by his parents Fidèle and Kate, by his son John; brothers and sisters: Alma, Antonin, Rita, Thelma, Louise, Cécile and Robert; brothers-in-law: Peter Arsenault, Ben Gaudet, Joe Cormier, Alphonse Gallant, Gustave Gallant, Frank Hammond and Leo Pineault and great grandson Tristan. Abel loved his racehorses and had a great community of friends in the racing world. Many years he transported horses in the Atlantic, Ontario, Quebec and the Northeastern States for his as well as other horse owners. During his 50 year career in N.B. as a heavy equipment operator, Abel made many friends he considered his family. He returned to PEI several years ago to rekindle his family relationships while making many more close friends. A special thanks for the wonderful care provided by the staff of Le Chez-Nous where Abel resided the past 3 years. He considered Le Chez-Nous his home and all staff friends. Also a special thanks to Dr. Muttart and the nursing staff of the PCH. The care he received was amazing. As per personal request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service at this time. Burial to be held at a later date in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Richmond, followed by a Celebration of Life for family and friends. Donations made directly to Le Chez-Nous or the Prince County Hospital Foundation will be greatly appreciated.
