It is with sadness in our hearts that we, the family of Zita Emelie Arsenault of St. Gilbert, announce her passing at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the age of 87 years.

Born on September 10, 1938, in Urbainville, Zita was the beloved wife of the late Augustine “Gus” Arsenault of St. Gilbert and cherished daughter of the late Adrian and Lorrette (Gallant) Arsenault of Urbainville.

Zita will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and son: Linda (John) Marshall, Jeannette Arsenault, Louise Goguen, Anthony “Tony” Arsenault, and Donna Arsenault; by her brothers, David (June) and Ivan; by her grandchildren: Luke, Samuel (HaoYu), Michael, and Robyn; by her great-granddaughter, Rhea; and by her many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Adrian and Lorrette Arsenault; by her daughter, Sylvia; and by her sister and brothers: Sylvia, Clarence, Alfred, Albert, Melvin, and Cedric.

Zita enjoyed many simple pleasures in life. She was an avid reader, learned to play the steel guitar, had a true green thumb for gardening, loved doing puzzles, and even learned how to make soap. She loved to go to bingo and in the later years, she played the radio bingo. She always had a desire to learn new things and embraced life with curiosity and creativity.

As per the family’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Philippe et St. Jacques Parish Cemetery, Egmont Bay, to which everyone is welcome to attend.

Memorial donations in Zita’s memory made directly to the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
