Obituary of Cormier, John Cyrus
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of John Cyrus Cormier of St-Gilbert, Monday, May 4th, 2020, at the Prince County Hospital, at the age of 87.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Irene (née Arsenault), and their children, Roger (Yvonne), Desmond (Carol), Nelson (Paula), Paul, Stella Gallant (Gerald), Simonne Cormier-Morrison (Ewen), Gerald (Darlene), and Corinne. He also leaves to mourn his brother Frank (Marie), and sisters, Rosella Richard (Cyril, deceased), and Leona Gaudet (Earl, deceased), and sister-in-law, Mae Arsenault (Clifford, deceased).
He adored children, and will always be remembered as very special Pépé to his 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his parents, Zacharie and Jeanne, his sisters, Mary, Nora, and Lucina Gallant (Andy, deceased) his brother Henry (Irene, deceased), his parents-in-law, Willie and Agnes Arsenault, and brother-in-law, Alfred Arsenault.
A carpenter by trade, John was a quiet, humble, generous man who was no stranger to hard work and determination. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones and would often proudly say: "We are blessed. We have a beautiful family." Though we did not openly say it as often as he did, we, his family, were truly, richly blessed for having had such a wonderful husband, Dad, and Pépé in our lives.
A private gathering in celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations in John's name can made to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or Alzheimer's Society.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Evangeline Funeral Home, Wellington, PE.
