Obituary of Arsenault, Donat Joseph

The death occurred peacefully on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, with his family by his side, of Donat Joseph Arsenault of Le Chez-Nous in Wellington and formerly of Egmont Bay, aged 89. Donat was the son of the late Elizée and Théodosie (née Richard) Arsenault of Maximeville. He will be forever loved and missed by his loving wife Vitaline (née Gallant) and children Edward (Nora), Melvin (Linda), Peter (Susan) and Alfred (Sandy). He will be fondly remembered by his brothers Edgar (Eva), Henry (Mélina - deceased), Tilmon (Mae), Oliver (Alphonsine), Alfred Richard (Alice) and by his sisters Célina (Edward) Gallant, Marguerite (Amand) Arsenault and Freda Bernard (Byron). Also survived by inlaws Lorraine (Réné - deceased), Victoria (Regis - deceased), Rita (Amand - deceased), Evelyne (Edmond), Jacques (Hermine). Also missing their grampy will be 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Donat was predeceased by his parents Elizée and Théodosie Arsenault, by his parents-inlaw Joseph and Mélanie Gallant, by brothers, brothers-inlaw and sisters-inlaw Gerard (Kay), Phil (Ella), Archie (Julie Anne), Lucie (Edmond) Cormier, Léo (Adelina) Gallant and Camille (Ida) Gallant. Resting at the Évangéline Funeral Home in Urbainville until Friday, August 30th, then to the Saint-Philippe et Saint-Jacques Church, Egmont Bay for funeral mass at 10:30am. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral; August 30, 2019 The funeral for the late Donat Joseph Arsenault, beloved husband of Vitaline Arsenault (née Gallant) of Le Chez-Nous and formerly of Egmont Bay, was held on Friday, August 30, 2019, at the Saint-Philippe et Saint-Jacques Church, Egmont Bay. The celebrant for the Mass of Christian burial was Father Michel Painchaud, who delivered the homily, and the prayers of farewell. Seated in the sanctuary was Father Eddie Cormier who co-celebrated the Mass. The first reading was addressed by Jennifer Bulger and the second reading was addressed by Stacey Arsenault. Nicole Arsenault led the congregation into the Prayers of the Faithful. Cross-bearer was Freddy Gallant and candle bearers were Elda Ross and Joe Gallant. Pallbearers were Oliver Arsenault, Curtis Arsenault, Joel Arsenault, Daniel Arsenault, Maurice Arsenault and Amand Gallant. Flower bearers were Maddison Gallant, Melissa Arsenault and Julie Arsenault. The church and community choir was under the direction of organist Debbie Rousselle-Montgomery. Attending the funeral was the management and staff of Le Chez-Nous. Interment took place in the Church Cemetery with Father Michel Painchaud doing the final prayers and committal service. Arrangements were entrusted to the Évangéline Funeral Co-op, Urbainville.
