Obituary of Bernard, Nélida Mary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nélida Mary (nee Baurriault) Bernard at the age of 85 years, at the Prince County Hospital, S'side on Saturday March 17th, 2018. She resided in Urbainville and in recent years lived with her son and daughter-in-law on Lennox Island. Nélida was born in Maximville on February 19th, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph and Clarisse Barriault. She was a devoted wife to the late Euclide Bernard and loving mother to Caroline (Paul) Brenton, Raymond (Brenda), Roger (Thelma), Michael (Pamela), Linda (Roger) Dunn and Donald (Darlene). Nélida is survived by her 16 grand children and 14 great-grand children. Will be forever remembered by her brother Eric (Cécile deceased), sisters Mélina (Dolor) Gallant, Bibienne (Urbain) Bernard, Aline (Réné) Richard and also brother-in-law Camille Bernard and sister-in-law Aldina (Luc) Rivest. Predeceased by her parents, husband and brother John Barriault, in-laws Bertha (Maurice) Dubeau, Bonita (Joe) Richards, Eunice Bernard and Monique Bernard. Resting at the Evangeline Co-op Funeral Home, Urbainville until Wednesday March 21, then to St. Anne Church, Lennox Island where funeral mass will celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment to take place in St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church Cemetery, Egmont Bay at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Nélida's memory to St. Philippe and St. Jacques Cemetary Fund or to the Prince County Hospital Palliative Care would be greatly appreciated. The funeral mass was celebrated by Fr. Andrew Handrahan who proclaimed the gospel, delivered the homily and read the prayers of the final commitment and farewell. Fr. Albin Arsenault was seated in the church. The first reading was proclaimed by Brenda Bernard (daughter-in-law) and the second was Fran Sark (friend). The prayers of the faithful were addressed by Amy Hanna (grand-daughter). Honorary pallbearers were Aldona Jollimore, Ken & Wendy Walker, Marilyn Sark, Les Doigts Magique, Cory Annand, Gertie Morrison, Larry McQuaid, Doreen Sark, Fran Sark, Lyndon & Jillian Ellis and Tabatha Bernard. The active pallbearers were grand-sons Kyle Bernard, Kent Bernard, Shawn Bernard, Jamie Bernard, Bradley Bernard, Blake Bernard and Drew Bernard. The flower bearers were grand-daughters Krista Millette-Rocan, Wendy Poole, Mallory Ellis, Amy Hanna, Susan Dunn-Price, Danielle Annand and great-granddaughter Madison Annand. Eucharistic minister was James Bernard. Altar boy was James David Bernard. The choir was the St. Ann's Church Choir with organist Sister Bernice Smith. Soloist by Zinhle Mthinkulu Ngwenya. The bulletin presenter was Zachary Annand (great-grandson). Greeting and welcoming of the family, Honour Song - Shelby & Hannah Arsenault. Offertory , Communion Hymn , Post Communion , Song of Farewell and Recessional Hymn . Interment will take place in the St. Philippe and St. Jacques Church Cemetery, Egmont Bay at a later date.
