Obituary of Ivan Stirling Leard

November 13, 1934 – May 13, 2023 The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Saturday, May 13, 2023 of Ivan Stirling Leard of Summerside formerly of Victoria West at the age of 88 years. Ivan was the beloved husband of Marjorie (née MacKinnon) and son of Lloyd and Margaret (née Reeves) Leard. Ivan will forever be remembered by his loving children: Lynn (Kirk) Arsenault, Shelley (Edmund) Paynter, Alvah (Rhonda) Leard and Tracy-Lee Leard (Peter Cairns); his grandchildren: William (Katrina) Arsenault, Brandon (Courtney) Arsenault, Colin (Elise Proffit-Jeffrey) Arsenault, Mason Paynter, Maggie VanderKooi, Bristol VanderKooi, Brant VanderKooi, Amielya Leard and great grandchildren Bentley, Denver, Marley, Austin, Hayden, Cameron, Ryker and Savvy; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Margaret (Marg), Jenette, Eva, Rowena, Willard (Judy) and Lorna. Ivan was the last surviving member of his family. Predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Margaret, father and mother-in-law James and Lorena MacKinnon; by brothers and sisters: Mildred (Robert), Lorne (Audrey), Alvah, Sinclair (Edie), Carroll (Myra), Arthur (Joanne), John; and brothers-in-law Harold, Fred, Hillard and Malcolm. Resting at the Évangéline Funeral Home, 900 Route 124, Urbainville, for visiting hours on Monday, May 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Victoria West United Church on Tuesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the Victoria West People's Cemetery. Donation made in Ivan’s memory to the Victoria West United Church or the Victoria West People's Cemetery will be greatly appreciated.
