DAD WENT FISHING

Dad went fishing off the coast of Egmont Bay

To try to catch the big one, he says that got away

Off he goes with fishing rod in hand,

Spare hooks in a jar and worms in a can

He then finds a spot where he thinks the fish are biting

And hopes that the big one will come out from hiding

He sits there patiently and waits for a sign

Of something nibbling at the end of his line

When the time is right he’ll reel that big fish in

Cook it in the frying pan and feed it to his kin

Or have it stuffed and mounted on the wall

For all to see his tale is not tall

Dad went fishing, so let him be

If he doesn’t catch the big one

He’ll bring home KFC!

Poem written by his daughter Sylvia Arsenault
