Obituary of Gallant, Anthony
Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Dad ‘Tony' passed away on March 22nd at the age of 88. His passing was at home as per his wishes, after spending his final days surrounded by love, with Stella, his children, sons and daughters in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad was never too keen about going to the hospital therefore it was very fitting for him to celebrate his final days in the comfort of his home. We brought dad home on March 12th which was his 88th birthday.
Tony will be lovingly remembered by Stella who stood by his side as his wife for 64 years and his children Mike (Anne), Susan (Denis), Carl (Brenda), Monique (Donald), Angele (Wade), Paul and Bonnie (Gerald) as well as his 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Tony was a kind, selfless man who was well known in his community. Having worked as a Carpenter, a Trucker, a mechanic and Auto body repair man for many years, he was a jack of all trades. Dad especially loved helping anyone in his family with odd jobs and would always be the first one to offer a helping hand. Dad had such a positive outlook on life and could often be heard answering ‘the very best' when asked how his day was or whether he was enjoying his meal. He always knew the weather forecast and would make sure we all knew it too!
We would like to sincerely thank the Palliative Home Care team for helping us realize Dad's wishes to come home for his last days - for without them his wish could not have been granted. Thank you so much for making this possible by supporting dad and all of us through those difficult days. Your compassion and kindness marked us all and you will never be forgotten.
Resting at the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville, where due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family service (by invitation only) will be held on Thursday, March 25th.
Donations can be made in Tony's memory directly to the PEI Palliative Home Care Program, 310 Brophy Avenue, Summerside, PEI, C1N 5N4. Ph: 902-888-8440.
